The Financial Assistance for Education of Self/Children of Beneficiaries scheme is a welfare initiative by the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Labour Department, West Bengal. The scheme provides financial assistance to registered construction workers and their children pursuing Higher Secondary and above education. To avail of this benefit, a worker must be registered for at least 6 months under the Board.

Eligibility Criteria
For Registration as a Building/Construction Worker:
- The applicant must be a resident of West Bengal.
- Must be a Building/Construction Worker.
- The applicant’s age must be between 18 to 60 years.
- Must have worked in the construction sector for at least 90 days in a year.
For Application of the Welfare Scheme:
- The applicant must be a registered member or their child under the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board of West Bengal.
- The applicant must be pursuing Higher Secondary or above.
Application Process
Offline Registration as a Building/Construction Worker:
- Collect Form-27 from the Assistant Labour Commissioners/Beneficiary Registering Officers.
- Fill out the form and attach self-attested documents (if required).
- Submit the application to the Assistant Labour Commissioners/Beneficiary Registering Officers.
- Upon successful verification, the worker is registered, and an identity card & passbook are issued.
- Fees:
- Registration Fee: ₹20/-
- Yearly Subscription Fee: ₹30/-
Application Process for the Welfare Scheme:
- Collect the application form from the Assistant Labour Commissioners/Beneficiary Registering Officers.
- Fill in the form and attach self-attested required documents.
- Submit the application to the Assistant Labour Commissioners/Beneficiary Registering Officers for verification.
- Upon approval, the financial assistance amount is disbursed.

Renewal Process
- The beneficiary must renew the subscription yearly by submitting Form-27A and paying ₹30/-.
- If not renewed within one year, the registration is canceled, and a fresh application for renewal must be submitted.
