🧒 What is PM CARES for Children Scheme?
The PM CARES for Children Scheme is a central government initiative under the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund. It was launched in 2021, mainly for those kids who lost their parents or legal guardians between March 11, 2020 and Feb 28, 2022 due to COVID-19.
The scheme gives long-term support — not just one-time help — to children orphaned during the pandemic.
✅ Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)
You can apply under PM CARES for Children 2025 if:
-
The child is an Indian citizen
-
Lost both parents, adoptive parents, or legal guardians due to COVID-19
-
The child was below 18 years at the time of parent’s death
-
Loss happened between March 11, 2020 and Feb 28, 2022
-
Not already getting similar support from another central scheme
If these apply, the child is eligible. Even if it’s a bit late now, registrations are still open for some special cases in 2025 through state child welfare offices.
