Salient Features of the Scheme:
- Promotes girls’ educational status, motivating them to pursue higher education and improving gender parity.
- Enables socio-economic empowerment of women, preventing dropouts beyond higher secondary education.
- The scheme offers financial assistance to girls in government schools, encouraging them to continue their studies.
- The cash incentive is extended to any number of girl students in a family who are pursuing higher education at recognized institutions/colleges/universities.
- A Separate Programme Management Unit (SPMU) will be established to monitor the scheme’s effective implementation.
Benefits:
- All girl students who studied from Classes 6th to 12th in Government schools will be paid ₹1,000/- per month till the completion of their undergraduate degree, diploma, ITI, and any other recognized course.
- The assistance amount under this scheme will be disbursed directly into the student’s Bank Account.
- The students shall be eligible for this in addition to other scholarships.
Eligibility:
- The applicant should be residing in the state of Tamil Nadu.
- The applicant should be a student.
- The applicant should be a female to avail of benefits from this scheme.
- All girl students who studied from Classes 6th to 12th in Government schools of Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply under the scheme.
- The assistance can be extended to any number of girl students in a family pursuing higher education at recognized Institutions/Colleges/Universities.
- The girl students should pursue their education in recognized courses and colleges/universities.
- Only the first course of higher education will be considered as an eligible factor.

Step 1: Apne college ke Nodal Officer se milein — woh UMIS ID denge
Step 2: umis.tn.gov.in → Login → UMIS ID + password
Default password: last 4 digits of mobile number + date of birth
Step 3: Login ke baad “Pudhumai Penn / Moovalur Ramamirtham Scheme” dhundhein → form fill karein
Step 4: Details bharein:
- School history (Class 6-12 — government school)
- Current college aur course
- Bank account (Aadhaar-linked)
Step 5: Documents upload karein → Submit → Nodal Officer verify karega → DBT shuru

Bonafide certification: Har 6 mahine — June 30 aur December 31 — college certify karta hai ki aap active student hain। Miss kiya toh payment pause hogi।
