It’s the nightmare scenario: You wait months for your scholarship, only to log in and see a red “Rejected” status. In May 2026, the Medhasoft portal has flagged thousands of graduation applications due to “Aadhaar Mismatch” or “Residence Certificate Expiry.”

If your application was rejected, don’t panic. You don’t need to file a new application. You just need to “unlock” your profile and re-upload the correct files. Here is the exact process to get your status back to “Pending” and then “Ready for Payment.”
1. Identify the Reason for Rejection
Before you upload anything, you must know why the system kicked you out.
-
Go to medhasoft.bih.nic.in.
-
Click on your specific link (Graduation 2022-25 or 2025-26).
-
Check “View Application Status.”
-
Look at the “Reason” column.
-
Name Mismatch: Your Aadhaar name doesn’t match your Marksheet.
-
Invalid Residence: Your certificate is old (Pre-2025) or the serial number is wrong.
-
Bank Account Rejected: Your account is not Aadhaar-seeded (DBT is disabled).
-
2. The Re-upload Process (Step-by-Step)
Once you have the correct documents ready, follow these steps:
Step 1: Student Login Use your User ID and Password (sent to your mobile during registration) to log in. If you lost them, use the “Forgot User ID” link on the home page.
Step 2: Unlock the Application If your application is “Finalized,” you won’t be able to edit it. You must click on the “Unlock Application” button (usually found under the ‘Edit’ or ‘Student’ tab). This allows you to make changes.
Step 3: Update Details/Documents
-
If the rejection was for Aadhaar, go to the Aadhaar verification section and re-enter the details exactly as they appear on your physical card.
-
If it was for a Document, go to the “Upload Documents” section. Scan your original document (not a photocopy) in Black & White PDF format under 500KB.
Step 4: Re-Finalize After updating, you must click on “Finalize Application” again. Many students upload documents but forget to re-finalize, so their application never reaches the Nodal Officer.
3. May 2026 Special: The “Residence Certificate” Rule
The Bihar government is now strictly rejecting Residence Certificates (Niwas Praman Patra) issued more than a year ago.
-
The Fix: If your certificate was issued in 2024, apply for a new one via RTPS Bihar online. It takes about 10 days. Only upload the 2026 version to be safe.
4. What to do if “Aadhaar Verification” keeps failing?
If the portal keeps saying “Aadhaar Not Verified,” it’s often because your Date of Birth on your Aadhaar card is different from your 10th Marksheet.
-
Correction first: Go to an Aadhaar center and get your DOB corrected to match your marksheet.
-
Then re-upload: Once the physical Aadhaar is updated, the Medhasoft portal will verify it instantly.
