If you are working in India and contributing to EPF (Employees’ Provident Fund), then you must have heard about the Unified Member Portal. It’s the official site of EPFO where employees and employers both can login, check details, download passbook, and do many things related to PF.

Honestly, at first it looks a bit confusing. But once you know where to click, it becomes simple. I am sharing here a small guide, just like I would explain to my friends.
What is Unified Member Portal?
The EPFO Unified Portal is basically a one-stop platform for all EPF services. From here you can:
-
Do UAN Member portal login
-
Check your Member Passbook
-
Update KYC details like Aadhaar, PAN, bank account
-
Transfer your PF account when you change jobs
-
Employers can use EPFO employer login for their side work
So, both employees and employers are using this same portal, just different login sections.
How to Login – EPFO Member Side
If you want to check your PF details as an employee, follow these steps:
-
Go to the official website – Unified Portal login page.
-
Enter your UAN number and password.
-
Fill the captcha and click on sign in.
-
Done. Now you can check balance, view profile, and even download UAN passbook login details.
👉 Important: You must activate your UAN first. Without that, EPFO login won’t work.
Member Passbook – Check PF Balance Online
Most of us login only to see how much money is there in PF. For that, there is a special Member Passbook option.
-
Visit the EPFO passbook page.
-
Login using your UAN and password.
-
Select the member ID (if you worked in more than one company).
-
Download or view the PF balance in detail.
It shows monthly contribution by you and your employer. Very handy to keep track.
EPFO Employer Login
Now, if you are an employer, there is a different section for you. Through EPFO employer login, companies can:
-
Add new employees
-
Pay contributions online
-
Submit challans
-
Manage compliance
So, whether you are employee or employer, same portal but different door.
Final Words
The Unified Member Portal has made PF related tasks very easy. Earlier people had to visit PF office for small things like name correction, KYC or balance check. Now almost everything is online.
If you are new, just remember:
-
Use UAN Member portal login for personal PF details.
-
Use EPFO employer login if you are managing employees.
-
Always keep UAN activated and linked with Aadhaar, PAN, bank.
That’s it. Once you get used to the EPFO unified portal, you’ll find it quite simple.
