What Is KPKB and Who Is Eligible?
Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar (KPKB) was established on 18 September 2006 under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). It replaced the earlier Prahari Canteen system and provides subsidized goods to Central Armed Police Forces and their families.
The following personnel are eligible:
BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, CBI, IB, SPG, NSG, NIA, NDRF, R&AW, Railway Police, NCRB, NCB, BPR&D, NICFS — and all State Police Forces. Both serving and retired personnel are covered, along with Next of Kin (NOK) of deceased personnel.
From 1 April 2024, the government also provides 50% GST assistance on purchases made at KPKB canteens — making the savings even more significant.
Two Portals — Know Which One to Use
This is where most people get confused. There are two websites and they serve completely different purposes.
kpkb.mha.gov.in is the official informational website. You will find rules, office memorandums, and guidelines here. You cannot download your card or login as a consumer from this portal.
home.kpkbmha.in is the actual Consumer Portal. This is where you login, check your application status, and download your Digital Canteen Card.
Always use home.kpkbmha.in for everything related to your card.
KPKB Consumer Login — Step by Step
Step 1: Open your browser and go to home.kpkbmha.in
Step 2: Click on “Consumer Login” on the homepage
Step 3: Enter your Username (Email ID) and Password — the ones you set during registration
Step 4: Fill in the Captcha Code shown on screen
Step 5: Click the Login button
Step 6: An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number — enter it to complete login
Once you are in, your Dashboard will open with all available options including card download, application status, and profile management.
How to Download Your KPKB Digital Card
Before you can download your card, one important thing — your application must be verified by your Unit or the nearest Subsidiary Bhandar (SB) and then approved by HQ KPKB. Only after approval will the download button appear.
If your application has been approved, follow these steps:
Step 1: Login to home.kpkbmha.in
Step 2: On your Dashboard, look for the “Download ID Card” button
Step 3: Click it — your card will download as a PDF file
Step 4: Print it out and get it laminated
This is a computer-generated card and does not require any signature to be valid. Keep a soft copy on your phone as well — it works at canteen counters just as well as the printed version.
New Registration — If You Haven’t Applied Yet
If you have never registered on the KPKB portal before, here is how to get started:
Step 1: Go to home.kpkbmha.in
Step 2: Click on “New Registration” or “Consumer Registration”
Step 3: Fill in your details — full name, Force, Service/PNO Number, mobile number, Aadhaar number, and email ID
Step 4: Upload the required documents — service ID proof and other supporting documents as specified
Step 5: Submit the form
After submission, your application goes to your Unit or the nearest SB for verification. Once they approve it, HQ KPKB gives the final approval. After that, your card becomes available for download.
One thing to note — the registration window is sometimes temporarily closed. If you see “Registration Process closed till further orders” on the portal, check back after a few days.
Monthly Purchase Limits — Know Your Quota
Your KPKB Canteen Card comes with a monthly purchase limit based on your rank:

This limit resets every month. Any unused balance does not carry forward to the next month.

What You Can Buy at KPKB Canteens
KPKB canteens stock a wide range of products at rates significantly lower than the open market:
Daily essentials — groceries, cooking oil, rice, pulses, personal care items
Electronics — home appliances, gadgets
Vehicles — Maruti Suzuki cars (Alto, Swift, WagonR, Ertiga), two-wheelers like Hero Splendor and Honda Activa are available at concessional rates through the scheme
Khadi products — as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, KPKB canteens in Delhi NCR now stock Khadi products including mustard oil, honey, cotton towels, and more
For vehicle purchases especially, the savings can run into lakhs compared to showroom prices — so always check the KPKB price list before buying anywhere else.
Common Errors and How to Fix Them
Wrong Portal If you are going to kpkb.mha.gov.in and trying to login there, that is the problem. That site is informational only. Go to home.kpkbmha.in for everything related to your account.
Forgot Password Click “Forgot Password” on the login page. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter it and set a new password. If your registered mobile number has changed since registration, contact your Unit Clerk to get it updated in the system.
Card Not Downloading This usually means one of two things — either your application is still pending approval, or your Aadhaar or PAN details are not correctly seeded in the KPKB database. Contact your Unit Clerk or the nearest Master Canteen manager to check your application status from the backend.
OTP Not Received Check if DND (Do Not Disturb) is activated on your mobile. Government OTP messages sometimes get blocked by DND filters. Turn it off temporarily and request the OTP again. If it still doesn’t arrive, restart your phone and try once more.
Server Error or Page Not Loading The portal gets heavy traffic during peak hours. Try logging in early morning or late at night when server load is lower. Clearing your browser cache and trying in an Incognito window also helps.
Data Mismatch Error If your personal details on the portal do not match what is in the KPKB database, you will see this error. Visit your nearest Master Canteen in person with your service ID for a manual correction.
Account Locked Multiple failed login attempts can temporarily lock your account. Wait 30 minutes and try again with the correct credentials. If it remains locked, contact your Unit Clerk or visit the Master Canteen.
Family Member Access — How to Authorize
One of the most useful features of the 2026 digital update is the ability to authorize a family member to use your canteen card in your absence.
You can upload a photograph of your authorized family member directly on the consumer portal under the profile or card management section. Once authorized, they can visit the canteen and use the card on your behalf — within your monthly purchase limit.

A Word of Caution
There are several fake websites that look similar to the KPKB portal. Never enter your service ID, password, or Aadhaar number on any site that does not have .gov.in or kpkbmha.in in the URL.
If someone calls you claiming to be from KPKB and asks for your login credentials or OTP — do not share it. KPKB never asks for passwords or OTPs over the phone.
