If you’ve recently finished your graduation or 12th in Bihar, your bank account is about to get a major boost. Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana 2026, the Bihar government has started releasing the “Ready for Payment” lists for thousands of students.

But here’s the catch: a lot of girls are seeing a “Rejected” or “Pending” status on the Medhasoft portal this May. If your documents aren’t 100% accurate, that ₹50,000 (Graduation) or ₹25,000 (Inter) scholarship could get stuck for months.

📅 May 2026 Update: What’s New?

The Bihar Education Department recently updated the portal. Here is the current situation:

  • 12th Pass (Inter) 2026: Online applications for students who passed this year are now OPEN on the Medhasoft portal.

  • Graduation Pass: The payment list for the 2025-26 cycle has been released. If you applied earlier this year, you need to check if your status has moved to “Ready for Payment.”

🛠️ How to Check Your Payment Status (Step-by-Step)

Don’t just wait for an SMS. Follow these steps to see where your money is:

  1. Visit the Portal: Go to medhasoft.bih.nic.in.

  2. Select Your Link: Choose either the “Magadh/PPU/BRABU” etc. graduation link or the “Inter 2026 Protsahan” link.

  3. Report Section: Click on ‘Click here to View Application Status’.

  4. Enter Details: You’ll need your Registration Number (from your marksheet).

  5. Read the Status:

    • Ready for Payment: Money will be credited in 7–15 days.

    • Payment in Process: The DBT transfer has started.

    • Rejected: You need to re-upload documents immediately.

🔍 Why Your Application Might Get Rejected in 2026

I’ve seen three main reasons why Bihar students are losing out on their scholarship this month:

  1. Aadhaar-Seeding Issue: In 2026, it’s not enough to just have a bank account. Your account must be Aadhaar-seeded. If your bank account isn’t linked for DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), the government’s payment will bounce, even if the portal says “Success.”

  2. The “Unmarried” Rule: For 12th-pass students, you must be unmarried to receive the ₹25,000. For graduates, however, you can be married and still get the ₹50,000.

  3. Residential Certificate: Make sure your Niwas Praman Patra is issued from Bihar. If you used an old certificate (pre-2024), the system might flag it during the new AI-based verification.

🏥 How to Fix a “Rejected” Status

If your Aadhaar or Residence verification failed:

  • Log in using your User ID and Password (sent to your mobile during registration).

  • Go to the “Upload Documents” section.

  • Scan your documents in Black & White PDF (under 500KB). Colorful scans often get rejected because the portal’s OCR (text reader) can’t read them clearly.
